Spruce Street Board is volunteer-led and strives to make Spruce Street Minyan an inclusive, exciting, and welcoming space.
Communications and Social Chair
Michal Weiss
Michal works as a clinical research coordinator at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Mental Health. She formerly was involved with the egal minyan at Cornell University and is a proud alum of Ramah Berkshires. In her free time, you can find her at the festivals in Philly, trying new restaurants, or attending events at other Philly Jewish organizations.
Religious Chair
Melanie Hilman
Melanie is a 3rd year Bioengineering PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania. She grew up going to Camp Yavneh in New Hampshire and formerly was involved with the egal minyan at Penn Hillel as an undergraduate student. In her free time, she can be found running or biking on the Schuylkill River Trail or rehearsing with the university symphony orchestra.
Finance Chair
Eli Katz
Eli is a data scientist for Big League Advantage. Originally from the Philly suburbs, he attended Johns Hopkins University, where he served as the Gabbai for the Conservative Minyan and later as President of the Hillel Student Board. You can find him watching reality TV with his fiancée, Alyssa, and dog, Luna, and passionately cheering on the Philly sports teams.
Communication and Social Chair
Gidon Kaminer
Gidon works as a litigation paralegal, doing asylum & deportation defense and wistfully recalling his summer job as a bartender in Jerusalem. He was on the board of Kehilah at Swarthmore and was the gabbai of the egal minyan at the Heschel School. Living in West Philadelphia, you can find him in Clark Park chatting up neighbors or in his kitchen cooking lentils at large scales.
